Rajeevika has been constituted as a registered society, under Rajasthan Societies Act-1958, under the Chairmanship of Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, for implementation of all the livelihood related programmes in rural areas of Rajasthan.
Rajeevika Skill aims to skill rural youth who are poor and provide them with jobs having regular monthly wages/self employment at or above the minimum wages/self employment. It is one a cluster of initiatives of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of Rajasthan (MoRD) that seeks to promote rural livelihoods.
It is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). MoRD pursues its goal of rural poverty reduction by adopting a multipronged strategy. This includes programs for rural infrastructure (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana – PMGSY), rural housing (Indira Awas Yojana - IAY), employment guarantee (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme - MGNREGS), livelihood promotion (National Rural Livelihood Mission - Aajeevika) and social pensions (National Social Assistance Programme - NSAP). Rajeevika Skills derives its importance from its potential to reduce poverty by diversifying incomes and reducing their uncertainty.
Rajeevika is working in collaboration with Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC), Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET), and Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) for different wage and self employment training programs. Rajeevika aims to cover over one lack rural youths for wage/self employment training program in next three years.
